Mortice Post & Rail

Mortice post & rail fencing features a rail that passes through a mortice hole in the centre of the post, rather than nailing the rail to the face of the post. Rails are scarfed at each end so that they overlap within the post. A stay (or two) is used in the centre of each bay of fencing to support the weight of the rails.

For standard nail-on post & rail fencing materials and prices, please see the Fencing Timber page.
